A man and a woman had been married for more than 50 years. They shared everything with each other, except for one thing. The lady had an old shoebox at the top of the wardrobe which her husband wasn't allowed to touch. The man didn't think much of it and never asked about the contents. Eventually, he completely forgot about the box. Until one day, his wife was hospitalized.
Because they thought this might be the end of the road, she gave him permission to open the box for the very first time. He took a ladder, climbed up to fetch the box, and looked inside. What he saw nearly sent him tumbling. There were two crochet dolls and $95,000!
Astounded, he returned to the hospital and asked his wife for an explanation. She told him: “A little before our wedding, my grandmother told me the secret to a healthy marriage is to never argue. So, whenever I’d get angry with you, I’d hold my tongue and I’d knit a doll.” The man was visibly touched. There were only two dolls in the box, meaning she’d only gotten angry at him twice in as many decades. Overwhelmed, he kissed his wife. Then he asked where all the money came from. “Oh,” she said, “it’s the money I made selling all the other dolls."
An admirable woman, who fighter for her marriage so much. This little lesson came a bit too late, but it hits home. Share the story of this worldly-wise woman.
