Gang-seo police station is in Pusan, the second largest city in South Korea. It looks like a regular police station but there’s something special here, which makes everyone want to visit…
..the cat that is on duty at the guard post! For the last 3 months she's been supporting her 2-legged "colleagues" at the precinct. Her name is “Molang", which means ‘Dunno’, because they knew nothing about the cat - not her gender, where she came from or how old she is - when they found her in front of the post. The police officers didn't know the cat, but the cat knew them!
How Molang started her ‘job’ as a post guard in this police station is a rather bittersweet story. Last year, three policemen buried her kitten after it died in a car accident. At the time, Molang was watching them from a distance. A few months later, surprisingly, she came to the guard post where those three policemen were on duty. More surprisingly, she was pregnant again.
And she gave birth to these kittens, the cutest creatures, in that guard post! Those three policemen, who'd already fallen in love with cats, did everything for her - from making a cozy ‘delivery room’ under the sofa to cutting the umbilical cord for the kittens.
Now Molang’s family have became a mascot of this police station. Molang is quite busy these days, with doing her job and taking care of her kittens at the same time. It turns out, however, she is quite a talented working mom and good at balancing her private life and professional career. Of course, it is possible thanks to the ‘joint child care’ with her devoted colleagues. Molang is tireless and even works the late shift.
Moland is so polite! She seems to understand how important the work of a "police cat" is.
As reward for Molang's tireless work, the police officers at Gang-seo station even had a uniform fitted for her - with a little name badge on the chest.
The uniform suits her perfectly, she has a calling for this job. Now she's a true police cat.
Thanks to their talented mom, these cuties are also enjoying their new uniforms. They must feel so honored, that they became the first ever police cat family in the country.
What a heartwarming story. I’m pretty sure these kitties will be amazing police cats like their mom.
Share this story with your friends, if they are still wondering why there’s no police cats in the world.
