This is an unfortunate accident that didn’t end up far, far worse and everyone is satisfied with that, but it’s definitely a warning that the mesh inside boys’ swim suits may not be as safe as they look.
Boys’ swim shorts have a white synthetic netting that sits inside the outer fabric. This article is going to present you a mum who warns that this meshed netting can be more dangerous than it looks. She tells about the terrifying story of her son Jack’s penis getting ‘strangled’ inside it, to the point that he could even have lost his penis!
Laura Collins was on holiday in Spain with her five-year-old son Jack when she took him into the shower to remove his swim shorts. She pulled them down and realized that his penis was caught in the netting and, as she said in her Facebook post, “literally strangling it”.
No mother should have to see her child in such pain
“He was screaming a scream I hadn’t heard before,” she wrote. Jack was really in pain. His mother didn’t wait a minute and took the little boy to the medical center at the hotel where she was staying, but unfortunately, they couldn’t help her!
“I carried him to reception and asked for some scissors,” said the 33-year-old weight loss club consultant. Unfortunately, no one from the hotel staff was able to free the distressed little boy’s penis. “There were two little bubbles, like skin, on either side,” she said, and also added that it looked as if it was going to burst every moment!
Doctors say it wasn’t the first time they’d seen this
Laura was panicked and raced Jack to the nearest hospital. Doctors gave the poor boy a local anesthetic and luckily managed to cut his penis free.
They were concerned that there would be permanent damage to the boy’s urinary tract or other internal structures, but luckily, after a while, Jack was able to urinate properly. Doctors could confirm that there was no lasting damage!
The doctors that treated him admitted that they had seen this sort of thing before. They warn all parents that it is a very common issue.
Brave little Jack is now alright and he’s still recovering from this frightening accident.
Little boys need to learn to protect their penises
Little boys’ penises are particularly susceptible to accidents. That happens because the proportions of foreskin and penis don’t match up while they are still young, so they can either get caught or trapped in various ways. Little boys are also not aware of how sensitive and delicate this area is, and have a tendency to treat it with less care than a grown man would.
There is also a previous case with a young boy of the same age as the child in this story. He was raced to hospital when he pulled his foreskin back in the bath and got it stuck there. You all know, that just like Jack, he was in agony, too. The hospital gave him sedative gas and managed to free it but it was a frightening experience for him.
Thankfully, little Jack is happy and well
Jack has recovered without any issues. His mother is warning other parents to be extra careful with the netting in boys’ swimming costumes and tells them to cut it out so this won’t happen to them, too.
“Jack was very upset about it afterwards but as five year olds do, he’s bounced back,” Laura said. “He keeps talking about it now but he’s fine. He talks about how he nearly lost his “willy” on holiday and goes on about the naughty netting. He’s been warning all his friends as he doesn’t want the same thing to happen to them.”
Laura begged everyone on Facebook: “Please, those with young children remove the netting in swim shorts.”
Everyone is happy that young Jack is feeling alright again and enjoyed the rest of his holiday with no more unfortunate incidents.
