WATCH: After Meryl Streep Attacks MMA, UFC Pres Hits Back TWICE as Hard With Epic Response

During her acceptance speech Sunday night at the 74th annual Golden Globes, where she was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement, actress Meryl Streep took an unnecessary swipe at football and mixed martial arts.

“Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners, and if we kick them all out you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts,” she said.

Speaking with TMZ the following morning, Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White fired back at Streep for her condescending and elitist attitude.

“It’s not going to be everybody’s thing, and the last thing in the world I expect is an uppity, 80-year-old lady to be in our demographic and love mixed martial arts,” he said.

Ouch. But he was not done.

“If you really look at who follows the UFC and is into mixed martial arts, it’s everybody,” he continued. “We have fighters from all over the world. World champions, men and women — we do fights in tons of foreign countries. She’s not educated about the sport and it was a completely uneducated comment.”

White was not alone in his criticism of the Hollywood actress. Even “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah, known for his anti-conservative rants, lambasted Streep for being “tone-deaf,” as he put it.

“You don’t have to make your point by s****ing on someone else’s thing, because a lot of people love football and the arts,” he said, as reported by The Daily Beast, adding that he himself spent his Sunday watching football and then the Golden Globes.

Writing at National Review, film and music critic Armond White added that Streep’s “moralizing hypocrisy” was evident by the way she seemingly had no empathy for the millions of Americans who appreciate football and mixed martial arts.

“She chose the vain actor’s — and spoilsport politician’s — lazy method of showing empathy only for someone who shared her own ideals, thereby failing to meet the artistic obligation to understand and communicate the humanity of someone with whom she disagrees or finds objectionable,” he wrote.

That’s probably the worse criticism she could have received — that she had just proven to the world why she actually shouldn’t have won the award she’d just been handed.
