Emma and John Power are proud parents of two sets of twins. What is actually baffling is that the kids were not planned.
Emma was on different kinds of birth control both times she got pregnant.
When she conceived her sons, Connor and Kyle, 30-year-old Emma was actually on the Pill. She and John were completely shocked as she never missed a day.
After the birth of the boys, who are now ten, they decided to change birth control tactics. Emma got an implant. This was guaranteed a 99percent success rate so the couple were pretty sure they had things under control.
Then five years later, Emma became pregnant again. This time, she had a set of two beautiful girls. When she discovered she was having twins again, Emma was astonished. What are the odds that she would birth a set of twins both times? Or that her birth control will fail both times too.
According to experts, the chances of this happening is about one in three billion. So the Power family must be pretty darn special.
After having their daughters and realising that, like their doctor said, Emma must be extremely fertile, the couple have decided to leave nothing to chance.
Emma has been sterilised and John has gotten a vasectomy. The couple are done with surprise baby, although they do feel truly blessed.
“I do feel very lucky to have my two sets of twins – even if they … were a complete surprise,” Emma said.
