Daljinder Kaur and her husband are both in their 70s. But recently they welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world by way of IVF. After two years of treatment and using donor eggs, Daljinder was able to successfully give birth to the baby. He is their first child together as a couple. Some people criticize this geriatric couple for their choice. After all, how can people their age keep up with a child?
One self-proclaimed "older mom," Luisa Dillner touches on this subject: "Occasionally, we say 'we’re too old for this' if she comes into our room at 6am on a Saturday. But generally we keep up with her." She continues, "I love the chance to have another go at motherhood, knowing there is more slack in the system than I thought. Giving her chocolate for breakfast, letting her wear dress-up costumes in winter to the shops – none of it matters. I really do enjoy every moment I have with her."
