Widower Pens Powerful Letter To Nurses And Doctors Who Cared For His Dying Wife.!

When 34-year-old Laura Levis died from a massive asthma attack, her husband could have easily melted away into grief. But he decided to pen an emotional letter that has gone on to inspire millions.Laura Levin, died from a severe asthma attack, Peter DeMarco wrote a stunningly beautiful letter of thanks to the hospital staff that had cared for her in her last days. The letter was posted by The New York Times.
“How many times did you help me set up the recliner as close as possible to her bedside, crawling into the mess of wires and tubes around her bed in order to swing her forward just a few feet?” Peter writes. He continues later, saying, “How many times did you hug me and console me when I fell to pieces, or ask about Laura’s life and the person she was, taking the time to look at her photos or read the things I’d written about her? How many times did you deliver bad news with compassionate words, and sadness in your eyes?”

DeMarco described the care extended not only to Levin but to her friends and family, culminating in the “last great night of our marriage together” in which more than 50 people gathered in the intensive care unit, singing and dancing and saying goodbye.

“How would I have found the strength to have made it through that week without you?” DeMarco wrote.
Hospital staff was so moved by the letter that a printed version of it, along with photos of Levin, now hangs in the ICU.
The doctors, nurses and everyone involved regularly went above and beyond for this family during such a difficult time. But it was one of the last acts of kindness, what Peter calls a “gift beyond gifts,” that stands out the most.
